A successful abstract painter from Rhode Island, Frank has always sought new frontiers to paint over the past two decades. A self-taught artist, he has a command of paint, technique and color unmatched. He has been exploring the realm of abstraction in his Providence studio on Snow Street since the mid-70's. The private quietness of this city, far from the frenetic pace of New York and Boston, has been an apt environment for his meticulous and highly personal investigation of pictorial form and space.
During the past thirty years, Gasbarro has prolifically mapped out in over three hundred wall size canvases a complete linguistic code of non-objective forms. The most current paintings possess a solid horizontal ground on which architectural forms build and through which organic material emerge. This mature artist has reworked, excavated and shaped a painterly vocabulary from a private systematic language developed over a lengthy process of personal exploration. The artist paints in all media but tends towards oils because their sensitivity in color outweighs the quick drying properties of acrylics. Frank has had several exhibits in Rhode Island, Connecticut, Massachusetts and New York.
